Privacy Policy

What personal data we collect and why we collect it.

Our website is https://www.homegrownlegacy.org

Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms
If you submit a contact form on our site, we store a copy of what you submitted for our internal reference, and it is sent to one of our administrators.

If you sign up for freebies or for information, we add the information you submit to our email list. You may unsubscribe at any time from our email list, as well as request that we completely delete your information.

Purchases
If you purchase registration/tickets or anything else from our site, we retain a copy of your name, address, and contact information to verify your order.

Credit card transactions are handled by a third party, and they also receive a copy of your name, address, and payment information so they can process the transaction. We do not retain any payment information on our site or servers.

Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

When you visit the site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

We may use your information to:
• Provide our services to you
• Improve our services and website
• Communicate with you about your account, transactions, and updates

Analytics
We collect site usage statistics using Google Analytics, but do not collect or store any personally-identifying information.

Who we share your data with
We reserve the right to share your information—including name, address, phone number or email address—with our Convention Sponsors and/or vendors.

We also occasionally send special offers to our list on behalf of other companies or organizations whom we think offer products or services that may interest and benefit you. These companies or organizations provide compensation (financial or otherwise) to us for doing so, and this plays a huge role in helping us keep convention registration pricing as affordable as possible. These companies would then receive your personal information only if you decide to interact with them directly.

How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users who purchase products or register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

If you submit a contact form, we retain a copy of what you submitted for our internal staff to access.

What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, have submitted a form, or have left comments, you can request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
